Transforming a complex process into a simple, easy customer experience

Peters Billiards first approached Creative Arc in 2012, with hopes for a content management system for the kitchen and bar stools section of its website. Since that initial engagement, Creative Arc has collaborated with Peters Billiards on several web design and web development projects.

Until early 2020, a fraction of Peters Billiards products was available to buy online. However, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a desire to get all inventory available for online purchase—even items like pool tables and leather sofas.

Mike Klein, president of Peters Billiards, stressed the importance of being prepared to respond to changing shopping habits—ensuring a voluminous product inventory would be accessible to customers.

Form and function

Tasked with a more complete, engaging, and visually rich website, the Creative Arc team focused on curating a refined design and compelling photography including multiple product and lifestyle images and galleries.

To deliver a more robust e-commerce experience, Creative Arc worked to address the complexities of syncing the website with live inventory. Peters Billiards carries a large selection of items—including custom orders, items often on back order, unique pieces on the show floor that cannot be restocked, and more. And the Peters Billiards staff would need to easily mange inventory online and in store.

The new site would need to allow Peters Billiards customers to search for, sort, and filter products—then choose heights, widths, fabrics, and the like.

Starting with a combination of tools including Expression Engine, PHP, and JQuery, Creative Arc customized development to deliver on facilitating online sales for a vast inventory that changes in real-time as purchases are made in-store and online. The solution for synchronizing product details effectively is a series of uniquely configured schedules tasks.

Quickly connecting with customers

The new, responsive Peters Billiards website launched in October 2021. Comparing November 2020 to November 2021—a year-over-year look at the month following the launch of the new site, online sales for Peters Billiards tripled.
